âI had to look rubbish in the fight scenes, which was really hard,â he laughs.
âBut I did get to do a bit of running and rolling around in the snow.
âThe theory that the show presents kind of makes sense, when it says that death is as random as life,â says Kaluuya. Kaluuyaâs relationship with Skins goes back to its beginnings when, as part of Hampstead Theatreâs Young Company in north London, he was asked to give opinions on scripts and then contribute scenes and write for the showâs online content. âI didnât take writing seriously at first â I didnât think I could do it,â says Kaluuya. But writing is very lonely.â A stint in front of the camera for two series, as wannabe gangster Posh Kenneth, was followed by appearances on various TV shows.
There was also that knockout turn in Sucker Punch by Roy Williams at Londonâs Royal Court theatre, in which he played a young boxer confused about his identity.
